WCF welcomes the addition of a new member of to the Council of Masters, Mestre Marcio Rodrigos do Santos from Santos, Sao Paulo, Brazil.
Master of Associacao de Capoeira Movimentos, founded in 2011.
He holds a master’s in education - Pedagogical Practices of Elementary School
Two postgraduates, one in sports and individualised training, and another in Afro-Brazilian arts and culture.
A Bachelor of physical education.
And a graduate certificate in sports psychology.
And a father of 3 kids.
Mestre Marcio started Capoeira in 1991 at the age of 13 with Mestre Parada, before that he was an astute futsal player throughout his youth.
He has been part of and even the founder of numerous projects utilising Capoeira for the betterment of the quality of life for youths, and most significantly for those with special needs.
Some of those projects have included visually impaired persons, rehabilitation of former drug addicts etc.
He has also provided complimentary training for athletes of various sports including the Santos competition football club. Mestre Marcio has also been awarded may honours over the years for his work, including, the Berimbau de Ouro award held in Salvador in 2020, two times winner of the best social social sports project in 2011 & 2015, the Consiencia Negra award in 2011, the Gente Que Faz award in 2012, the Irma Dolores hero award in 2016, and the 20 years medal of merit for the city of Santos in 2018.
WCF is honoured to have such a dedicated and knowledgeable person to join the team, and with his know-how and background we hope to open our doors to more categories of competition into the areas of inclusion that coincide with those of the Paralympics and other such esteemed events for people with disabilities.
