Eu Canto Capoeira The TWO Winners

Eu Canto Capoeira The TWO Winners

As the hour approached the end of the WCF’s first-ever online competition the amount of member interactions getting in their last “likes” and “comments” before the deadline was unprecedented.

Quite literally hundreds of last-minute votes came in from around the world pushing the points for the peoples favourite singers higher and higher.

At the moment of the close of competition the points tally yielded 2 champions with equal points of 5612 points each.

Mestre Negro Dinho – Clebison Chegas Costa, representing France.

&

Instrutor Ferrugem – Leonardo Ferreira Sampaio, representing Brazil.

The larger portion of the points accounting for 70% of the total coming from the 5 judging Masters gave lead to Instrutor Ferregum who was slightly ahead with 46 stars totalling 4140 points vs Mestre Negro Dinho who was awarded 45 stars totalling 4050 points.

However, the other 30% of the points came from the public votes in the way of a point per like. This is where Mestre Negro Dinho got his edge back with a total of 1562 points for likes whereas Instrutor Ferrugem scored a total of 1472 points for his work.

There were many encouraging comments coming from the public including other competitors encouraging and complimenting each other of their beautiful pieces of music.

The judging Masters also left their comments, Mestre Tonho Matéria commenting on the work of Instrutor Ferrugem that if he could give 11 stars he would and Mestre Suino stating that it’s not about having a beautiful voice in Capoeira, it’s about bringing the “dendê”, and that’s exactly what he did.

Comments on the work of Mestre Negro Dinho were equally gracious, Mestre Casquinha praised the inclusion of the all-female chorus while Mestres Hulk, Boneco & Tonho Matéria all praised the lyrics and the message of the final song. Mestre Suino said of Mestre Negro Dinho “you are a winner in here amongst the worlds best, but this only confirms that which you already are in the Rodas”.

With this amazing and undoubtedly surprising result of these two entrants tallying a final score of the exact same amount of points through the various methods of scoring, the WCF went into conference with the Council of Masters and came to the conclusion that the prize money will be divided between the two winners and they will be awarded €300 each.

For the WCF this competition has been a huge success. Not without its hiccups, but everybody is entering this new world, this online world, and everyone has to learn how to live in a new way. That, after all, is one of the beautiful things about Capoeira, that it lets us encounter new experiences, to learn new things inside and outside of the Roda, and enables us to grow into a more civilised and unified global family.
