TYPES OF MEMBERSHIP

The WCF membership is voluntary. There are 4 types of membership:

INDIVIDUAL MEMBERSHIP
(for Capoeiristas: athletes, coaches, referees, masters etc.)

Irrespective of nationality, capoeira group, gender or age any individual can request individual membership. Individual members do not have voting right at conferences and cannot nominate their candidates for elections. The President of WCF or a person authorized by the President adopts the decision on the admission of individual member. Upon admission to the WCF membership, Capoeirista can keep his/her cordão or other attributes of his/her group (for example: if a Capoeirista of Grupo Muzenza becomes a member of WCF, he/she ca still keep the same cordão that was received from his/her Master).

BENEFITS OF THE INDIVIDUAL MEMBERSHIP:

- To participate in WCF events;
- To get WCF passport;

- To be able to get a personal ID number from WCF that grant access to a personal account in the website of WCF ;

- To have the name listed in the World Ranking immediately after the participation in at least 1 WCF event as an athlete.

The new member will get an International Capoeira Passport and a personal ID number, which is shown in the passport.

By requesting individual membership you agree to pay 20 Euro at once. This amount will include the price of WCF international Capoeira passport, the cost of shipping of the passport to your home address and 2 (two) years individual membership fee. After the completion of period of 2 (two) years, your annual membership fee will be 5 (five) Euro per year. A receipt will be issued upon receipt of payment for a full subscription.

All sums properly invoiced to the individual member must be paid due to the date. If any such sum is outstanding then from such time the individual membership shall be suspended.

There is no refund of any membership fees nor the passport, should you cancel your membership at any stage during your membership year.

The WCF reserves the right to alter the individual membership fees from time to time. Changes to membership fees will only be made at the time of annual renewal of your membership.

MEMBERSHIP FOR NATIONAL FEDERATIONS - Full membership

Full membership is available to the national capoeira federations with the following criteria:

- To have in their membership over 50% of national capoeira schools (clubs);
- To accept and follow statute, rules and regulations of WCF;
- To participate regularly in WCF events;
- To have the legal status of a non-profit association;
- To provide transparent, impartial and independent elections and the process of nominating candidates for the chair of the main bodies of the organization

The WCF registers only 1 (one) capoeira organization from each country as Full member.

BENEFITS OF FULL MEMBERSHIP:

- To become the only and sole capoeira partner of WCF in the country (all activities of WCF in the country will go through the organization);
- To have the exclusive right to select a national team of your country to participate in WCF events;
- To have the right to represent the country in all WCF events (competitions, conferences etc.);
- To be able to vote in WCF general elections and nominate candidates for vacancies;
- To receive 50 (fifty) individual membership fees and 8 Referee licenses fees included (free of charge);

- To be able to host licensed Competitions of WCF;
- To get the full membership certificate and other required documents to support and promote the national federation.

The cost of full membership is 200 (two hundred) Euro a year. The payment shall be done between 1st January and 31th of March in a given year. New members joining WCF after 31th of March of the calendar year will be charged for the remaining quarters. In case of non-payment within the period specified above, a full membership of the organization will be suspended.

Payment for Full membership shall be made by one of the following methods:

- Online via PAYMENTS option in this website (click here);
- By bank transfer (click here to get WCF bank account details);
- By cash to the appropriate financial representative of WCF during WCF events.

The Full membership fee is not refundable.

MEMBERSHIP FOR CAPOEIRA GROUPS, SCHOOLS etc. - Associate membership

Capoeira groups and any kind of capoeira organizations (Associations, schools, clubs etc) having aims and objects identical to those defined by WCF can request an Associate membership. The President of WCF adopts the decision on the admission of Associate member. Associate members may participate in WCF conferences with consultative vote. Associate members cannot nominate their candidates for elections.

Upon admission to Associate membership, capoeira organization shall keep its cordão system and other attributes.

Associate membership is not subject to payment of a fee.

HONORARY MEMBERSHIP

The sportsmen, coaches, masters and other members of the Federation, as well as scientists, public officials and public figures who significantly assisted to the development of WCF and/or Capoeira can be awarded with Honorary membership by the Management Board. Honorary members may participate in conferences with consultative vote. Honorary members cannot nominate their candidates for elections.
